"The vital question today is not whether there will be life after death,
but whether there was life before death."
Marshall McLuhan is probably best known as the author of a book called "The Medium is the Message." * He was an astute observer of the power of advertising and news and entertainment media.
This early advocate of "out of the box" thinking also produced a deck of cards that represented his unique perspective on the notions of Tarot. The five of hearts bore the saying, "Is there a life before death?"
I was reminded of this quote recently in a discussion about past-life regression. I believe that, as fascinating as a past-life regression might be, the best use of hypnotherapy is to make sure life is worth living today.
I believe we have an obligation to make the most of this life, as if it were our only chance. If it isn't, I doubt there will be a penalty for savoring it.
* The actual title of the first edition was "The Medium is the Massage," an interesting misprint...
