"What I love about hypnotherapy is empowering people to rewrite their own stories and take control of their lives.

I've always been curious about how people think. My first job was as a newspaper reporter in Washington, D.C.  By 24, I was working as a foreign correspondent. Later, I used those same research and interviewing skills to become a licensed private investigator in San Francisco.

Spotlight operator at the Dolby Theatre.

My own story took a turn when I arrived in Los Angeles and began working as a union stagehand for theater and video (where great stories happen backstage, too...)  I'm proud of what I learned as one of few female workers in this technical field. I think my varied background helps me connect with clients from all walks of life.

In 2007, I lost weight and  finally quit smoking with hypnosis. I enrolled in my first hypnotherapy training and opened Voss Hypnotics in 2008.

People sometimes call me "the practical hypnotherapist," because I work with evidence-based techniques focusing on health and well-being.

My biggest hope is that I can help people free themselves from chronic pain in a way that eliminates or lessens dependence on opiates. The epidemic is harming people in two ways: by creating dependence and, in the push to reduce prescriptions, by cutting people off from the drugs they have come to need.  The truth is, you CAN learn to manage pain with less medication and sometimes none. These techniques are particularly helpful with clean and sober clients who can now avoid relapse.

I've been doing this for more than a dozen years now and remain in awe of what my clients achieve with the power of their own minds.
